On October 3, at 16:00, a landmark event took place in the premises of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine – the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the Energy Efficiency Fund, the Entrepreneurship Development Fund, and Sense Bank. The signing took place within the framework of the launch of the “Energy Source” project. The initiative is designed to provide Ukrainian businesses, communities and HOAs with access to knowledge about effective fundraising for the implementation of energy-efficient solutions.
“Ukraine’s energy independence is a priority of the Government, therefore it is important to raise the awareness of small and medium-sized businesses and communities in energy efficiency issues. At the first stage of the project, the Ministry of Economy, together with its partners, will organize a series of trainings for housing cooperatives, HOAs, small and medium-sized businesses. It will become, in fact, a road map on how to apply for state and bank energy support programs. Banks have already issued business credit lines for energy equipment in the amount of over 2 billion hryvnias, of which 1.7 billion have been selected. This makes it possible to create more than 100 MW of new capacities in the energy sector. I am convinced that thanks to training, this figure will only grow,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, during the signing ceremony.
The “Energy Source” project is a comprehensive educational initiative developed with the support of the Ministry of Economy, the Energy Efficiency Fund, the Entrepreneurship Development Fund, and Sense Bank. Its purpose is to teach the participants of the events, which will be organized in the regions, preferential lending mechanisms and state support programs for energy-efficient projects and entrepreneurship development.
“Today we are taking a step towards Ukrainians who want to make their homes energy efficient. Thanks to cooperation with banking financial institutions, the “GreenDIM’ Program becomes even more accessible. This means that the majority of Ukrainians who live in multi-apartment buildings will be able to get a preferential loan for installing alternative energy sources,” commented Yehor Fareniuk, CEO of the Energy Efficiency Fund. “For the Energy Efficiency Fund, it is especially important that the Ministry of Economy promotes the development of affordable loans, because only with joint efforts will we be able to help thousands of Ukrainians survive the extremely difficult winter.”
“Currently, energy stability and energy independence for every Ukrainian is a guarantee of a more normal life and sustainable development of business activities. We are glad to be participants in a joint initiative to increase our country’s awareness of energy-efficient solutions and the possibilities of its preferential financing,” said Andrii Hapon, Chairman of the Board of the Entrepreneurship Development Fund.
In general, the “Energy Source” project will contribute to the strengthening of energy independence because in the context of constant challenges related to terror on the part of the russian federation, our energy infrastructure, businesses, communities and ordinary Ukrainians will be easier to integrate into national energy efficiency programs and attract preferential financing for development.
Oleksii Stupak, Chairman of the Board of Sense Bank noted the importance of the “Energy Source” project. “It is difficult to overestimate the signing of such a significant document. With this memorandum, we are launching a nationwide educational initiative, which is designed to convey to Ukrainians – to businesses, territorial communities, and HOAs – all available tools for increasing energy independence. For us, as a state bank, it is extremely important to be involved in the “Energy Source” project,” noted Oleksii Stupak.
The launch of the “Energy Source” project is an important step on the way to Ukraine’s energy modernization. Thanks to this initiative, Ukrainian businesses and communities will get new opportunities for development and growth.
